From “Independent Women” to “Bills, Bills, Bills,” there were
few boomboxes and Walkmans in the late ’90s/early 2000s that did not have
Destiny’s Child hits blasting through the speakers. Alongside Beyoncé’s,
Kelly’s, and Michelle’s harmonies and matching outfits (courtesy of Tina
Knowles), the group championed a message of female empowerment and sisterhood,
however flawed, that seems to be missing from today’s music. Destiny’s Child
fans will be happy to hear that unreleased material from the high-powered girl
group will be released this fall.
Former manager of Destiny’s Child and father to Beyoncé,
Matthew Knowles told The Huffington Post that we can expect new music from the
group as early as November:
“We still have our joint venture with Sony, and in November
we’re putting out two Destiny’s Child catalog records with new material.”
A reunion tour, however, is not currently in the works:
“It takes a year of planning to do these tours, but first it
starts with the artist wanting to do it. And I think the ladies are still
working happily in their solo careers. And I hope in the next five years that
there is a reunion tour.”
Clutchettes, are you checking for new music from Destiny’s
Child? What former girl group would you like to see reunited and in the studio?
