Even though she’s a natural blonde, normally we associate
Katy Perry with long dark tresses.
For her Vogue Italia July 2012 editorial she’s barely
recognizable wearing a platinum wig with pale skin and heavy black eye makeup.
In two pics she donned the Linda Farrow for Prabal Gurung
sunglasses we’ve seen on Lady Gaga, which adds to the futuristic feel of the
photo shoot.
My favourite shot is of her wearing the McQ Alexander McQueen
dress with the visor from the mainline collection.
Other looks include her looking chic in Jil Sander, on all
fours in Dsquared2 , donning head-to-toe pink in Comme des Garçons, sweet in
Valentino, daring in sheer Dolce & Gabbana and sexy in Donna Karan; all
styled by Francesco Carrozzini.
She talked to Vogue Italia about her docu-movie, her eclectic
tastes and her style.
Here are some extracts from her interview. Read more over at
Vogue.it.
On showing her behind-the-scenes self in ‘Katy Perry: Part of
Me’: “I am not afraid to show the real me, the de-glamorized version, because I
am not always the Katy Perry who is a bit cartoon-like that everyone relates
to. That’s me on stage. But I like to show the entire spectrum of my
personality. There are so many different Katy Perrys enclosed within one body,
unfortunately.”
On her tastes being ‘eclectic’: “I like small boutiques,
handmade garments, ornamental details. It all depends on how I am when I wake
up. But, by and large, I like anything that is fun. One of my favorite American
designers is Jeremy Scott: I adore him because he doesn’t play along, and I do
the same.”
On where she gets her look: “I say this even if I may sound
egocentric: they are my ideas. But, obviously, I am helped by a stylist, my
friend Wujek.”
